Classic Inlines currently owns three project cars, which were built for two primary purposes. First, to demonstrate and promote our products at the various shows, events, and races we attend. And secondly, for use as project cars for magazine articles, again to promote our products and the business. The 69 fastback was purchased sole for a project we agreed to do with Mustang & Fords magazine. The article will be published in the spring or summer of 2007, and will be a huge boost to our business. I've heard it may even span several issues, which is great advertising for Classic Inlines.
Having the support of these magazines is extremely important to our business. I never really understood just how much until this past summer when Mustangs & Fords published a small sidebar in their SEMA coverage. The sidebar showed a small picture of the engine we built for the convention, and had a small article about our company. As a result, our phones rang constantly for the following four to five weeks, and the membership of the FordSix forum grew in record numbers. Now days, I couldn't imaging saying in business and being successful without their support.

We'd like to build a couple more cars, but we don't have the money, or more importantly, the space to store them. Much less a way to haul five vehicles all over the country. What we do have, is a lot of ideas we'd like to develop, and that is normally done on a project car, or test mule of some sort. So, we will just have to make due with what we have. Even if it means rebuilding the motors on a regular basis. Unfortunately, they can't be shown when they are torn apart and not in good running order, so its difficult to use them as test mules during the show season.
These pages cover the basic details of each car and include small photo galleries. The 67 & 69 are close to completion, if that's ever possible, and while 66 is scheduled to get a new motor this summer as we develop a kit for supercharging the 200ci and 250ci small six. If and when we purchase another, project car it will more than likely be a Falcon, or preferably a delivery sedan which could be set up as a tow vehicle.
As stated above, the 69 fastback will be featured in Mustangs & Fords magazine sometime this coming spring or summer. The article will cover the engine build, which is substantial, as well as the upgrades to the drive train, steering, suspension, and brakes. It was a massive project and coordination was crucial, as it all had to happen over a four day weekend. It reminded me of all those programs on TV, where they are always behind schedule and fighting to get a car built within a specific deadline. Of course, it wouldn't have been possible without the support of numerous companies, which donated parts and in some cases, the labor as well. Once the article has been published, we'll add another section where we can thank all of the companies that supported the project.
